When “The Originals” returns for their final season on The CW, about eight years will have passed. That means Hayley will have moved on with her love life while away from the Mikaelsons, but it seems she still has a thing for guys with accents.

Torrance Coombs will play Declan in “The Originals” Season 5, Entertainment Weekly reports. CW fans will recognize him as Bash from “Reign.” The Canadian actor will be putting on an Irish accent for the gig as Hayley’s (Phoebe Tonkin) new boy toy.

It won’t start out as a serious relationship for the single mother and the chef. It sounds like a casual fling. “Hayley’s got a friend with benefits,” showrunner Julie Plec told EW last month. “Hayley’s getting some.”

As previously reported, the character description reveals that Declan is charming and flirty (aren’t they always?). However, he’s also oblivious. He doesn’t know anything about the supernatural world of New Orleans, but he likely won’t stay naïve for long. His growing relationship with Hayley will likely put him right in the middle of the drama between vampires, werewolves, witches and hybrids. Will the reveal bring him closer to Hayley or will it send him running away?

It sounds like Hayley will have to deal with her daughter’s romantic life heating up too. Hope (Danielle Rose Russell) is getting a love interest as well. “Descendants” star Jedidiah Goodacre will play the teenage hybrid’s possible first boyfriend. He just recently became a vampire, and he becomes super intrigued by Hope after a weird incident at school.

While Hayley and Hope have been staying away from Klaus (Joseph Morgan), it seems he could have a love interest too — at least that’s what many fans hope. Caroline Forbes-Salvatore (Candice King) will appear on the “Vampire Diaries” spinoff for the first time as Hope’s headmistress. She’ll also have some one-on-one time with Klaus.

“I suspected there might be something more to this story,” Morgan told the San Diego Comic-Con audience when asked about the Klaroline relationship (via the Hollywood Reporter). “There’s always been ... a feeling of something unresolved there.”

While it seems like there’s love in the air, audiences won’t see these relationships for long. “The Originals” only has 13 episodes left. Plec announced last month that the fifth season would be the final run for the CW drama.

“It’s both a gift and a burden to be able to control the ending of the series,” she wrote in the announcement on Twitter. “Many shows are not lucky enough to have a hand in deciding when the end has come. Being able to celebrate the completion of ‘The Vampire Diaries’ was a joyful and deeply emotional ride, a luxury gifted by Mark Pedowitz at The CW and Peter Roth at WBTV, who, as TV fans themselves, know what it means when a fan is able to say a true goodbye. Ending a show is always bittersweet, but for me, it’s a true blessing to be a part of making that choice.”

“The Originals” Season 5 still doesn’t have a premiere date. It is expected to air in early 2018.
