On Friday, an explosion rocked Norway's government headquarters in Oslo. At least a dozen injuries have been reported, and the first death has been confirmed.

Police have evacuated the building, which is home to the Prime Minister's office and nearby to a number of Norwegian newspapers. Some reports say that police are clearing out the town center as well.

The cause of the blast is currently unknown, although some suspect that it could have been a targeted terrorist bomb.

I see that some windows of the VG building and the government headquarters have been broken, one witness told public radio NRK.

Fire and smoke from the explosion can been seen in many parts of the city, reports say.

The first images from the explosion appeared on Twitter Friday afternoon.
