“Outlander” Season 2 Finale Spoilers
Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) will try to change to fate of Scotland in the Season 2 finale of “Outlander.” Starz

The wait is over, “Outlander” fans! After a grueling week-long hiatus, the Starz series will return on Saturday with an action stuffed Season 2 finale. And according to reports, fans won’t want to miss episode 13, titled “Dragonfly in Amber.”

The British-American fantasy series, which took a break over Fourth of July weekend, will air its final episode of the season on Saturday, July 9, at 9 p.m. EDT on Starz. And seeing as though forthcoming installment has been extended to 90 minutes, audiences can expect Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) to face double the drama.

Episode 13, which was named after Diana Gabaldon’s 1992 book in which the series was based after, will flash forward to 1968. According to the synopsis for the forthcoming installment, viewers will watch as Claire divulges the “truth about her past and her parentage” to her daughter Brianna (Sophie Skelton) in the future-based episode.

This will be the first time that Claire and Jamie’s daughter will be introduced in the series. Skelton revealed to Entertainment Weekly in June that she was anxious to see how fans would react to her depiction of the beloved character.

“There’s been this buildup for so long,” the actress said, adding that she’s nervous for Brianna’s introduction because the character she portrays on the TV series is different from the character that fans fell in love with in Gabaldon’s novel. “Like the fact that Brianna’s from Boston, but we decided not to go with a Boston accent,” she explained of the differences. “And then there are things like the eye color. I think people are expecting [her to wear] contacts because Bri’s eyes are blue [in the books]. Everybody will have a different view.”

Brianna won’t be the only new face to surface in the 90-minute, Season 2 finale. The character Roger (Richard Rankin) will make also his debut as an adult. Roger is a “future love interest” for Brianna who travels back in time to 18th-century Scotland, according to his character description.

The summary for the finale reveals that when the plot does return to the past, viewers will watch as Jamie tries to save his loved ones during the Battle of Culloden. But as Claire and Jamie try to change Scotland’s history, their relationship may become destroyed in the process.

“Outlander” will air its 90-minute Season 2 finale on Saturday, July 9, at 9 p.m. EDT on Starz.
