Before the BlizzCon 2019, fans have already learned that “Overwatch 2” will introduce new maps, new cosmetics, new heroes, and new game modes. Blizzard announced of all these at this year’s major Blizzard event. Surprisingly, aside from the new maps announced at BlizzCon 2019, some fans spotted a new unannounced map hidden in the trailer and reportedly set in South East Asia.

On Reddit, “Overwatch 2” fans shared of finding several pieces of evidence of a new unannounced map set in South East Asia. There is a particular scene in the latest “Overwatch 2” trailer that, according to a Reddit user, looks something more like a city in India. Another concept art, which seems to be showing the city of Ayutthaya in Thailand, is also pointed out by another Reddit user. The concept art reveals the capital city of the Kingdom of Siam around 80 km away from Bangkok and is adjacent to a body of water.

If the map turns out to be set in India, the possible explanation would be Blizzard planning to introduce more story into the upcoming sequel, “Overwatch 2.” Symmetera, the Indian character in “Overwatch,” is not included in the seven characters to be in the second game with new character designs, but it does not mean that Blizzard does not have any plans for the character. Jeff Kaplan and his team may be planning something big for the character if the India map is accurate. The India map, according to Gamerant, could be a part of the PvE mission of the game, and it will pave the way for players to get to know more about Symmetra.

If it happens to be a Thailand map, well, fans would not mind seeing it in “Overwatch 2.” For quite some time, fans have been requesting Blizzard to introduce a Thai map in the original “Overwatch,” and the concept art of a Thai map made by a student just made those requests grow louder. The release of “Overwatch 2” could be an excellent opportunity for Blizzard to give fans what they have been asking for.

“Overwatch 2” is slated to release on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. For now, Blizzard has no release window for the sequel.
