The PlayStation-exclusive title “MLB The Show 21” is anticipated to be announced this month. However, a recent leak seemingly confirms that the game will also be launched on PlayStation’s competitor Xbox gaming consoles.

If confirmed true, it would be a first for the game, which has been exclusively running on Sony’s gaming consoles for the past 15 years.

That speculation stemmed from an alleged leaked box art image of “MLB The Show 21” shared on Instagram by user Anderdyad. The leaked art shows the game releasing on PS5, as well as on Microsoft’s previous-generation gaming console Xbox One. The images also feature all the trimmings and logos usually seen in the official game’s art box.

The leaked box art image also shows the game featuring Fernando Tatis Jr. of the San Diego Padres on its cover. Tatis is among the rising stars of Major League Baseball with a breakout season last year. Seeing him on the cover of the incoming title is not really surprising considering his surge to popularity over the years.

“MLB The Show 21” was first announced in December 2019 for the PlayStation franchise. However, during the announcement, it was hinted that the game "would be released to other console platforms." This is a part of the multi-year extension to the company’s video licensing deal with Sony, according to VGC.

The site also mentions that a joint statement from Sony Interactive Entertainment and Major League Baseball reveals that the multi-platform release could happen this year. The statement does not suggest any gaming console but, according to VGC, both Nintendo Switch and Xbox retweeted the statement.

But, that’s not all. On Reddit, user Blackout797 shared the Jackie Robinson Edition of “MLB The Show 21.” The leak not only backs the Xbox One release of the PlayStation-exclusive title but also reveals its April 2021 release window. Since none of these leaked images are confirmed by either PlayStation Studios or Sony Interactive Entertainment, fans should not temper their expectations about this potential gaming platform of “MLB The Show 21.” With the game rumored to release this year, it is only a matter of time until fans would hear more details about it.
