Millions of fans of Niantic Labs’ “Pokémon GO” were very thrilled after the Gen 2 Pokémon Update officially rolled out late this week. The arrival of the pocket monsters from the Johto Region as well as the changes on the interface and the addition of new features are after things that most if not all of them patiently waited for in the past months. Unfortunately, not everyone is pleased with the new update, especially when it is also the same reason why the iOS app of the game keeps crashing on the iPhone.

This Sunday, many players accessing “Pokémon GO” using an iPhone shared their disappointment over the instability of the game since the latest update came. For Reddit user keenkeepanda who started the thread on this issue, he claims random crashes on his iPhone 6 Plus happen whenever he taps on the Avatar, the Buddy Pokémon and even just access the list of Pokémon found on the Pokédex.

Upon starting the thread about the “Pokémon GO” crashes on the iPhone, Keenkeepanda received a lot of responses from other Trainers — all of them complain about the same thing. User pandaeyes40 commented: “The constant crashing is driving me insane. My iPhone 6 is doing it, I tried using my old iPhone 5 and it’s exactly the same.” Another user also confirmed the existence of the problem by writing, “When I play in the city with lots of lured stops and lots of spawns, my iPhone 5 practically crash [sic] every 15-20 minutes.”

Even the latest installment of the iPhone series are not free of this issue. Reddit user GoAwayGrizzlyBear stated, “iPhone 7 and current iOS here. I don’t know what triggers it, but since the most recent update my app crashes quite frequently as well. The Apple Watch app is also broken as it no longer tracks my steps into the actual app or show nearby Pokémon.”

Others who have dealt with the same problem advised others to delete the “Pokémon GO” app and re-download it from the App Store. Once the game is reinstalled however, they shouldn’t pair the device with the Apple Watch. Unfortunately, this suggestion didn’t do the trick for some who tried it.

Niantic Labs has yet to recognize the presence of the random crashes in the latest versions of the app — version 0.57.2 for Android and version 1.27.2 for iOS. Perhaps the developer will do something about this come Monday.
