Valentine's Day
On Valentine’s Day, many couples typically get it on to show their love for each other. For others who don’t have partners, sites like PornHub help them get by. In time for this year’s Valentine’s Day, PornHub decided to publish a statistical report on the traffic it usually generates on Feb. 14. Based on its Valentine’s Day Traffic chart, the porn site actually suffers a minor slump on the special day for lovers. Interestingly, the slump differs not only based on the gender of the user, but also on the time of the day.

PornHub’s chart compares the activity of users on a typical day and on Valentine’s Day. Apparently, when it's past 6 p.m., the traffic of the site decreases by as much as 17 percent. However, the activity bounces back starting at 10 p.m. and it even shoots up at 11 p.m. and 12 midnight.

The report revealed that the slump is mostly evident among female users. Starting at around 2 p.m., the activity of female users diminishes slowly until the figure reaches its biggest slump of 22 percent at 9 p.m. Statistics of male users, on the other hand, show that men only diminish their activity on the site starting at 6 p.m. Also, the largest dip recorded for male users is only 16 percent.

PornHub also published a different chart showing the most-searched keywords on its site on the feast of St. Valentine. Overall, “love,” “passionate,” “romance” and “making love” skyrocket in the rankings of the search terms. This just speaks volumes of the users’ yearning for romance and love on Valentine’s Day.

The word “love” is the biggest winner among all search terms, since it usually soars up by 269 percent. Believe it or not, more males (up to 333 percent) use this keyword on PornHub on Feb. 14 than females (up to 203 percent) do. The same is true with the word “romance,” which only sees a 98 percent spike among the ladies and a larger 223 percent among the men.

Mashable notes how the PornHub statistics also prove that couples could be getting inspiration from the porn site on Valentine’s Day based off of the rise in searches for keywords like “massage,” “kinky,” “bondage” and even “babysitter.” The latter, as per the publication, may be hinting at what couples returning to their kids after their date night are thinking of.
