A pregnant teen girl died a day after she was set on fire by her boyfriend. The incident took place Tuesday in Bihar, India. She was one-month pregnant at the time.

Nitasha Gudiya, Bettiah superintendent of police, said the girl was in love with the man and became pregnant.

"The accused had promised to marry her. However, after he got to know about her pregnancy, he backed out and planned an attack on her along with his friends," she added.

The victim's boyfriend and his friends reportedly barged in and set the teenager on fire when she was alone at her house. The woman who suffered severe burn injuries on her face and body died Wednesday while she was being transported to another hospital for further medical treatment. The main accused, identified as Arman Ansari, was apprehended by the police following the incident.

The case was under investigation.

In a similar incident, the dead body of a half-burnt teenage girl was found in Bihar earlier this month. According to post mortem reports, the teenager was shot in the head and killed after she was gang-raped and her body was set ablaze by the accused. A police officer stated that the identity of the girl could not be determined immediately as the upper portion of her body was burnt beyond recognition. Police believe the attackers set her body on fire in an attempt to hide her identity and destroy evidence.
