  • Anjorin is sticking with Chelsea
  • Anjorin thumbs down offer from other teams
  • Anjorin will get more exposure from Lampard

Frank Lampard is no stranger when it comes to investing in young players and it appears another one just got rewarded. Tino Anjorin has reportedly signed a five-year contract extension, a deal that will keep him at Old Trafford until 2025. Anjorin made his senior debut when the Blues faced Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup last September, a game they won 7-1. He also made an appearance in the second half of Chelsea's game against Everton, replacing Willian. The Blues won 4-0 at Stamford Bridge.

"It’s a brilliant feeling. I’ve been at the club since I was six years old so to get to this stage and then be offered another five-year contract on top of that is amazing," Anjorin said via the team's official website.

Anjorin is one of eight academy players given a chance at the first team by Lampard. So far, he admits that he feels pretty much at home alongside other Chelsea regulars. Anjorin is looking forward to getting more exposure, something he is likely to get from Lampard. After an impressive debut against Grimsby, there is no question that the Nigerian player is one of the promising young stars that Chelsea has at its disposal.

"It’s been a really crucial season for young players here. Frank, Jody Morris and Joe Edwards have taken us on board and really committed themselves to bringing young players through," Anjorin said.

The five-year deal also shuns interest from several teams. Teams like Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund were among the teams who kept tabs with his contract situation. However, all were turned down with Anjorin preferring to stick it out with his current club, Sky Sports reported.

Looking ahead, it will be interesting if Anjorin will continue to get the necessary time on the field with new stars joining. As most know, Timo Werner is set to join the team once the deal is finalized with RB Leipzig. Aside from the German, there is also Hakim Ziyech expected to join the Blues.

Regardless, Lampard vows that he will not turn his back on players from their academy. But of the young players, Anjorin looms as the player likely to step up and get more exposure moving forward.
