  • Arteta reportedly plans to personally talk to Aubameyang
  • Gunners' future includes Aubameyang at center
  • Arteta is also working on David Luiz's status

The future of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang remains murky, but Arsenal FC would prefer to keep him. No new deal has been offered to the Gabon captain, but it appears this could be changing soon. Mikel Arteta may take matters into his own hands to keep the 30-year-old football player, according to a report.

In a previous report, it was mentioned that Arsenal would be foolish not to consider keeping Aubameyang. Retired Liverpool player Jamie Carragher believes the Gunners should exhaust all means necessary to keep the Gabon national, stressing that it is not easy to find goal scorers.

Things may not be looking good now, but the story may be different come next season. For Aubameyang to fully understand, no less than Arteta can explain to him what lies ahead for the Gunners.

Arteta is confident that he can persuade Aubameyang to stay at Emirates Stadium, The Telegraph's Matt Law reported. The mentor reportedly plans to show the 30-year-old an outline of his intentions -- something that will likely include him being the central piece of Arteta's master plan.

Since taking over from Unai Emery, Arteta has been making drastic changes in the team. But for that to work, he needs the right players on the team.

Aubameyang is undoubtedly one of the key pieces of the Gunners' future. The Gabon skipper has 13 months left in his current deal, but a new deal could be coming soon. Arteta is aware that teams are waiting in the wing to pry Aubameyang away. The list includes Chelsea FC, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona.

Aside from Aubameyang, Arteta will also need to address the situation of David Luiz. The 33-year-old is also out of contract after joining the club last year. Most thought that Luiz would be playing another year. But as it turns out, the Gunners need to activate the $152,000 a week clause to keep the Brazilian football player.

The good news is that Luiz and Arteta are getting along well. This case is less complicated, meaning all eyes will be on Aubameyang. The earlier Arteta can discuss things with him, the better chances of seeing him playing longer at Emirates Stadium.
