  • Arsenal expected to make an offer to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang soon
  • Mikel Arteta plans to keep Aubameyang in the fold
  • Aubameyang will play a key role in Arteta's rebuilding plans

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang wants an answer from Arsenal on whether the club has any plans for him. The Gunners have yet to settle his contract and such has been frustrating for the Gabon international. He claims that his camp and Arsenal management have been talking the past months but there is no closure on whether he will be kept or not. Mikel Arteta responded to Aubameyang's concern and the answer is pretty positive.

Arteta said in a report from BBC that he feels pretty positive about Aubemeyang agreeing to a new contract. However, he added that they have to show the Gabon captain his value and why he should stay at Emirates Stadium. Aubameyang's contract expires on June 2021.

"He needs to feel valued, he needs to feel he belongs to us and that we want him," Arteta said. "I have a really good relationship with him and we can discuss face to face a lot of things. So far as I'm aware I think he's very happy at the club," he added.

Though Arteta addressed the rant made by Aubameyang, the 30-year-old is more concerned about knowing what contract he will be getting. The Gabon national admitted in a previous post that he remains undecided on his future, aware that his next decision will be a critical one for his career.

“It's a turning point in my career and, to be frank with everyone, this will be a very difficult decision to make. But beware, I haven't made my choice yet. It will be perhaps the most important decision of my career,” Aubameyang said.

Looking ahead, it will be interesting if Arteta's comments will somehow ease the tension between the Gunners and Aubameyang. It appears Arsenal is keen on keeping him and it may only be a matter of time before the Gabon football player finds out what new deal he will be getting.

Aubameyang has shown that he deserves a new deal since arriving at Emirates Stadium. He has accounted for 49 goals in 75 Premier League games. In total, he has 61 scores in 97 games. Arteta admitted that his transfer plans may not go according to plan with financial limitations standing in the way. He plans to focus on the personnel he has at the moment, one that likely includes Aubameyang.
