  • Ramsey say Juventus offer was hard to turn down
  • Ramsey wanted change, move out of comfort zone
  • Ramsey adapting to Serie A type of play well

Aaron Ramsey made an unprecedented move last summer, a move that may have come as a surprise to some. But the 29-year-old midfielder explains what led to him making the big switch. It was about moving out of his comfort zone and trying something new.

It was an uncanny move by the Welsh footballer who spent 11 seasons with Arsenal. And while he could have easily re-signed with the Gunners, Ramsey claims that the offer from Juventus was just too hard to pass up. He was dangled a four-year deal, something he had already signed as early as February of last year, Football London reported.

But looking beyond the long-term deal, it appears the move had something extra special for Ramsey. It was a chance to try a different culture and try out a different league. The move allowed him to experience how things were done over in Serie A compared to 11 years of playing n the Premier League. He weighed in on this when he discussed everything on Foot Truck opposite former teammate Wojciech Szczesny.

“Juventus is a massive club, one of the top teams around in the world so when they come calling for you it’s hard for you to turn them down,” Ramsey said. “I was in a position where I was at a club for a very long time and I fancied a change to get out of my comfort zone to learn a new language, hopefully very slowly,” he added.

Ironically, Szczesny had made a similar move to Turin in 2017. He believes Ramsey made the right call to get a different kind of feeling when it comes to winning.

“When you change the club you arrive at some point in your career where you just want to win trophies,” the Polish goalkeeper said.

There were notable differences between the two leagues. That included a different level of physicality and spacing during games. Szczesny said that Serie A was more challenging, explaining how tough it was to read teams and break them down.

As far as Ramsey is concerned, it seems he is slowly getting used to the changes. In 24 appearances for Juventus, he has made four goals. After starting the pre-season with several injuries, it appears the Welsh footballer is holding up well as he takes on a new challenge in his professional football career.
