  • Alexis Sanchez's future is not looking bright at Old Trafford
  • Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's offer to Sanchez may not entice the Chilean
  • Sanchez could agree to a short-term deal with Manchester United

Manchester United is expected to let some players go, one of whom is Alexis Sanchez. The 31-year-old is currently on loan to Inter Milan. However, there is a growing belief that he may not be returning to Old Trafford permanently.

The Chilean could end up getting a new lease with I Nerazzurri if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer cannot squeeze him into the current lineup. And even if Sanchez is kept, accepting a new role may not suit him.

According to a report from the Mirror, Solskjaer is not entirely giving up on Sanchez. He revealed that there is still a chance the Chilean football forward may stay at Old Trafford, although he won't be a starter. Red Devils top brass Ed Woodward is believed to be eager to offload Sanchez but is being prevailed upon by Solskjaer to keep Sanchez. A reason behind Woodward's move is to free the club of its huge wage bill and likely make room for bigger targets.

Solskjaer had teased in the past that there is a chance Sanchez may rejoin United. However, he did not specify what kind of role the Chilean would take. Not being a starter could push him to a different direction.

But considering most teams are saving up for now due to the coronavirus, there could be a chance Sanchez may agree to a short-term lease. He could test the market next summer instead of when things (hopefully) settle down.

This could be the scenario awaiting Sanchez unless Inter seeks a new loan for the Chilean. In a previous post, it was mentioned how I Nerazzurri could be looking into a loan extension to keep Sanchez in the fold until the end of the Serie A campaign. Though Sanchez has not performed incredibly, he could get a new lease. Hopes were high that he could hit it well with Antonio Conte but such has not happened.

As for United, the Red Devils are set to resume football action against Tottenham on Friday (June 19). The club has not seen action since March. However, the lull allowed injured players like Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba to heal up. In addition, Odion Ighalo's case has been settled, although it will only be until January 2021.
