Premier League Rumors: Chelsea Pulling Away From Manchester United May Improve Chances On Chilwell

Ben Chilwell is another player on the target list of Chelsea FC although nothing is set on stone. The Blues have been busy trying to improve their roster with several almost certain of joining Stamford Bridge next summer. As most know, Timo Werner has one foot at the door as well as Hakim Ziyeach. Kai Havertz is another target and negotiations are already underway.

With so many young but promising names, critics are wondering when Frank Lampard will slow down. They appear to have more than enough but there are players like Chilwell that remain on their radar. There remains no certainty on the chances of the Blues on the 23-year-old left-back. However, the Blues could raise their chances if they stay the course and qualify for the Champions League, the Daily Mail reported.

Right now, the Blue is at the fourth spot of the Premier League table. However, Manchester United is just three points behind them. Depending on how the rest of the season goes for the Red Devils, there is a chance that Chelsea could be dislodged. Hence, it may be added motivation for the Blues to stay the course to maintain their hold. Tied to that, it could factor in their chances to land Chilwell too.

Assuming they do qualify, the next order of business is being able to afford the 23-year-old player. Leicester City wants a fee of no less than $75 million to deal Chilwell. Though most teams are dealing with financial difficulties, the Blues have shown that they are ready to spend big on recruits. Chilwell could be perfect to fill the left-back needs of the Blues next season if Lampard and company can pull it off.

The influx of new faces is seen as preparation for the possible exit of several stars after this season. Willian Borges da Silva and Pedro Rodriguez have yet to secure short-term deals. As mentioned in a previous post, both are hesitant to sign a temporary deal, wary of suffering injury along the way which could hurt their future aspirations.

Lampard has yet to sit down with either although that could happen in the coming weeks. But after both aired their concern, the Blues may have to skim the market for alternates should contract talks bog down.
