KEY POINTS

  • Edouard transfer fee set at $25 million
  • Arsenal leads race for Edouard
  • Arsenal could pass on Edouard due to financial limitations

Arsenal FC has a lot of targets in mind, including Odsonne Eduard of Celtic FC. The French forward has gotten his share of suitors although the Gunners are believed to be at the top of the list. Aware of the interest, The Bhoys have set their asking transfer fee price. The cost to get the 22-year-old striker is at £20 million ($25 million).

This season, the 22-year-old striker has compiled an impressive 62 goals in 126 appearances for Celtic. The feat alone was enough to attract interest from the Premier League. He starred in Scotland since completing an initial loan to Parkhead from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in 2017, Goal.com reported.

Arsenal is considering Edouard as a possible replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. He has yet to sign a new contract with the Gunners, igniting possible talk on him moving out of Emirates Stadium. In a previous post, a move out of Arsenal seemed to be backed by Gabon FA President Pierre Allan Moungguengi, believing Aubemayang would be better off with a more ambitious club.

Former Hoops star Frank McGarvey believes that teams will bite the asking transfer fee once it is on the table. He expected different offers coming in the next few months. Edouard has an existing contract with The Celts until 2022.

“Edouard has that ability to produce something out of nothing because he has such quick feet," McGarvey said to the Scottish Sun. “I think someone will come in this summer and put £20m on the table for him. You can’t blame Celtic for taking it, especially in the current climate."

Edouard becomes another top target for Arsenal who has been linked to several players. Among the other names the Gunners have been linked to include Willian with the Brazilian preferring to stay in London should he fail to come to terms with Chelsea FC. The 31-year-old winger is seeking a three-year deal but the Blues were reportedly willing to hand him a two-year pact.

With multiple options on their end, it will be interesting if Edouard would be a player they would get. It remains that most teams are plagued with financial problems, meaning some deals are unlikely to get done. Hence, there could be some players moving elsewhere or perhaps sticking around for at least one more season with their current team.
