  • James expected to move out of Real Madrid
  • James pursued by at least three teams
  • Colombian legend says Zidane does not want James in Real

James Rodriguez has struggled to make his mark in Real Madrid and now the word going around is that at least three clubs are interested in getting the Colombian midfielder. Among the teams said to be interested in the 28-year-old winger include Arsenal, Everton and Wolverhampton.

According to Marca, James is plotting an escape from Real Madrid where he has made only 13 appearances this season. The only hitch here is that he is under contract with Los Blancos until 2021. But seeing how he has struggled to crack the regular first team, it may be in his best interest to explore other opportunities. After being loaned to Bayern Munich the past two campaigns, he has hardly been a presence.

One person who believes that James should seriously explore other teams is Colombian legend, Carlos Valderrama. Speaking to Caracol Radio, he believes that James is old enough to make his own decisions and establish himself with other teams.

"If it was me, I'd be running away from Madrid. He's good enough to play for any team. I wouldn't doubt for an instant. He's a great player, he's already proved it. He can start for any other team, he's got the quality to play anywhere in the world," said the 58-year-old old legend.

This is not the first time that Valderrama has aired his belief that James should get out of Real. He bats that Zinedine Zidane does not want him there and just consider taking his act elsewhere, Goal.com reported.

Right now, James would best study the options on the table. Arsenal has been a staunch suitor, a team he has turned down in the past. Everton and Wolves make sense as well seeing how the Colombian midfielder holds ties with top officials on both clubs. Former manager Carlo Ancelotti calls the shots over at the Toffees, someone who is no stranger to trying to woo James to his side. James' agent also holds a close relationship with the Wolves, reportedly the club that has the inside track in acquiring him.

As can be seen, James has options. But with the COVID-19 pandemic keeping everyone grounded, the 28-year-old footballer may have to wait for now. It would be best for him to use the lull to figure out his next move and revive his flailing football career.
