Prince Charles and Princess Diana are reportedly related to each other.

Becky Pemberton, a journalist for The Sun, revealed that the ex-royal couple was 16th cousins, once removed, and were both descendants of Henry VII. But despite their distant connection, Prince Charles and Princess Diana still decided to tie the knot in 1981.

Following in their footsteps are Prince William and Kate Middleton, who wed in 2011 at Westminster Abbey. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are also distant relatives. More specifically, they are 12th cousins, once removed, and are related through Sir Thomas Leighton.

Leighton is Prince William’s 12th generation great-grandfather, and Middleton’s 11th generation great-grandpa.

In related news, Prince Charles and Princess Diana made headlines this week after their photos in Australia were released amid Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s trip to OZ. In the photos, Prince Charles and Princess Diana look affectionate towards each other.

Prince Harry and Markle are currently in Australia for their 16-day overseas tour of the continent. While there, the Duchess of Sussex honored her late mother-in-law in a number of different ways.

According to E! News, Markle remembered Princess Diana by wearing her butterfly necklace and gold bracelet during her trip to Oceania. On her wedding day, she also wore Princess Diana’s stunning aquamarine ring.

Markle’s wedding bouquet also featured spring blooms of forget-me-nots, which were Princess Diana’s favorite flower. Kensington Palace released a statement regarding the flower and said that it was Prince Harry and Markle’s personal choice to honor the memory of the late princess on their special day.

But perhaps the most poignant way that Markle could pay tribute to Princess Diana is by giving her unborn child the same moniker. Bookies suggest that Markle and Prince Harry may call their daughter Diana if they will have a baby girl. The odds are currently at 12/1.

However, it is also believed that this name prediction may change since Markle won’t give birth until the spring of 2019. Diana was also linked to Prince William and Middleton’s possible baby names, and it is included in Princess Charlotte complete name, which is Charlotte Elizabeth Diana.
