  • Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are assets to the royal family
  • The Duke and Duchess of Sussex benefit the royal family
  • Prince Harry and Meghan Markle won't be allowed to renounce their royal titles

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were rumored to renounce their titles amid claims that they will be relocating to South Africa.

However, this never happened. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are currently taking a break from their royal duties, and they are staying in the United States with Markle’s mom, Doria Ragland. But early next year, they will be returning to London to fulfill their engagements.

While speaking with 9 News Australia, royal commentator Juliet Rieden said that the royal family won’t allow Prince Harry and Markle to renounce their titles because they are an asset to the British clan.

Even though the royal couple was recently embroiled in a controversy after the Duchess of Sussex said that she’s been struggling, Rieden said that in the greater scheme of things, Prince Harry and Markle have been wonderful ambassadors in Australia and other parts of the world.

“They are very, very popular and they are very engaging when you meet them. I have been watching the Royal Family for a long time now and Harry and Meghan have a very tactile connection with the public. I don’t just mean they hug people but they really connect with people, people really listen to them, people respond to them really well, they relate to them and they want to meet them,” she said.

Rieden added that Prince Harry and Markle’s different approach when they are attending their engagements have benefited the royal family. But the royal couple also thinks of other ways on how their engagements can benefit them on a personal level.

Meanwhile, just two months ago, royal expert Victoria Arbiter told “Breakfast” that Prince Harry and Markle would have to give up their royal privileges if they decide to renounce their titles. However, she also doesn’t think that this will ever happen.

In the ITV documentary “Harry & Meghan: An African Journey,” the Duke of Sussex said that it would be wonderful to relocate to South Africa. But he doesn’t think that he and his wife could do it anytime soon.
