Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth awkwardly kissed each other while at the Heathrow Airport in 2000.

In the unearthed snap, the Duke of Edinburgh leans close to Her Majesty to give her a smooch. But since Prince Philip is so much taller than his wife, he had to bend a little too low just to reach her lips.

Prince Philip’s neck looks strained from bending it sideways to plant a kiss on the Queen. Her Majesty, on the other hand, seemingly stretched her neck just to kiss her husband back.

The Queen and Prince Philip are not very affectionate towards each other in public since they need to maintain a respectable body language as the head of the monarchy and as the husband of the monarch.

But every now and then, they kissed each other on the lips, cheeks, and hand. In another throwback photo, Prince Philip leaned in to give the Queen a kiss on her right hand. Her Majesty is smiling from ear to ear in the snap.

And even in moments where the Queen and the Duke didn’t hold each other, it was still evident how much they love each other. For instance, one photo of the royal couple shows them sitting on the same chair. They are simply staring into each other’s eyes.

Another photo shows the parents of Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, and Prince Edward dancing with each other while at a royal engagement. The couple couldn’t contain their happiness during that special moment.

Now that the Queen and Prince Philip are much older, it is less likely for royal fans to see them canoodling and touching each other in public. In fact, it is also very rare to see the royal couple together.

The next time that Prince Philip and the Queen would step out in public together is probably next year when they attend Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi’s royal wedding.
