Prince Philip recently became a godfather age at the age of 97.

According to Sam Stevenson, a journalist for Express, the Duke of Edinburgh already has a total of 50 godchildren. The newest addition to his list of godchildren is baby Inigo, the son of Alexandra and Tom Hooper.

Prince Philip reportedly flew from Sandringham to Romsey in Hampshire via his helicopter to attend Inigo’s baptism. His son, Prince Charles, also has a close relationship with the Hoopers. Prince Charles was the one that walked Alexandra down the aisle when she married Tom in 2016.

According to Stevenson, Inigo will most likely be the last in a very long line of children that Prince Philip will be a godfather to. He has been given the important role for the past 75 years.

Some of Prince Philip’s godchildren include Louise Cordet, 1st Earl Haig, Philip Howard – Johnston, David Gerard Leigh, and more.

In related news, Prince Philip also made headlines last week after it was reported that he might not attend Princess Eugenie’s wedding to Jack Brooksbank on Oct. 19. The couple is scheduled to tie the knot at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.

Prince Philip is still not in the best of terms with Sarah Ferguson even though her divorce from Prince Andrew happened several years ago. Rebecca Perring, a journalist for Express, said that Ferguson was blacklisted by the members of the firm in 1992 when photos of her with John Bryan was released by the media.

The Duke of Edinburgh got upset over the scandal and has, since then, struggled to be in the same room as Ferguson. However, Prince Philip exerted the effort to still attend Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding on May 19 even though Ferguson was also invited.

On Oct. 12, Ferguson’s daughter is the one that will tie the knot. And a source told Perring that Prince Philip just has to deal with the fact that Ferguson will sit in the chapel’s front row with other members of the royal family.

“Sarah is being very hands-on, but in a great way, and Eugenie wants her mom to be a big part of it all and will make sure Sarah is included in every aspect. Her feeling is the other royals will have to get on with it,” the source said.
