Prince Philip is often hailed as one of the most handsome male royals in history. When he was much younger, he was photographed looking dapper in his naval uniform a couple of times.

In one of his throwback photos, the Duke of Edinburgh is sitting on his desk and signing papers. His face is not turned directly towards the camera but his profile already stands out. His thick hair is neatly fixed, and his high nose is accentuated in the snap.

A second photo shows the dad of four standing outdoors once again in his naval uniform. His body is turned away from the camera but his profile is once again highlighted in the picture.

In the third photo, Prince Philip is standing next to Queen Elizabeth II and the Queen Mother. The photo is taken at the Buckingham Palace shortly after the Queen and the Duke’s royal wedding. King George VI and Princess Margaret are also in the photo.

One of Prince Philip’s photos wearing his naval uniform was taken in 1947 while he was at the Royal Naval Officers School. In the snap, he is doing a salute. In the same year, he tied the knot with Her Majesty in his naval uniform.

In the couple’s wedding portrait, Prince Philip and the monarch are looking into each other’s eyes while smiling from ear to ear. Years later, Prince Philip wore a white naval uniform when he went on a royal tour in Kandy in 1954.

But one of the most notable photos from the group shows Prince Philip standing beside his uncle, Earl Mountbatten. The snap, which was taken in 1965, shows Prince Philip and Mountbatten donning similar naval uniforms.

At first glance, Mountbatten’s resemblance with Prince Charles cannot be denied. The smile on Mountbatten’s face is similar to how the future King also smiles. They also appear to have the same skin color. Based on this photo alone, Prince Charles looks more like his uncle than his own father.
