Prince William once denied that he and Kate Middleton were planning to get married after a relative tied the knot.

In 2005, the Duke of Cambridge was asked in a press photocall during a skiing trip with a younger Prince Harry if he and Middleton would be next to walk down the aisle. Prince William’s response to the question shocked royal fans who had been following his and Middleton’s romance because the prince said "no."

“No, I don’t think so,” Prince William said while laughing, according to Katie Nicholl’s 2011 book “The Making of a Royal Romance.”

During an interview when he was only 22 years old, Prince William also ended speculations suggesting that he would propose to the now-Duchess of Cambridge.

“Look, I'm only 22 for God's sake," Prince William said, insisting that he was too young to marry at his age.

“I don't want to get married until I am at least 28 or maybe 30," he added.

Prince William was reportedly adamant to delay marrying Middleton because he didn’t want to suffer the same pressure his father did when he married Princess Diana. The Prince of Wales was given an ultimatum by Prince Philip to propose to the People’s Princess. Princess Diana was deemed as the perfect bride, and at the time, the future king was already 33 years old.

Nicholl claimed in her book that Prince William didn’t want to be hurried to the altar. True to his words, Prince William waited until he was 28 to pop the big question to Middleton.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge announced their engagement in 2010. On April 27, 2011, they tied the knot. Prince William and Middleton are now parents to three adorable children, 5-year-old Prince George, 3-year-old Princess Charlotte and 8-month-old Prince Louis.

In related news, Prince William and Middleton will not be splitting their Christmas holidays between the royal family and the Middletons. They used to spend the holiday season with both families, but this time, they will be spending it with the members of the Firm because of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip’s advancing years.

Skipping Christmas with the royals is no longer an option for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, despite rumors claiming that they are trying to avoid Prince Harry and Meghan Marle due to their rumored rift. The fab four is expected to spend Christmas together.
