Prince William and Kate Middleton would be taking a break from public engagements to spend more time with their children.

While the Prince and Princess of Wales, both 40, have been out engaging in royal duties since being given new titles, they still make sure to spend family time with their three children, 9-year-old Prince George, 7-year-old Princess Charlotte and 4-year-old Prince Louis, who are currently on a short break from school, People reported.

Their children's fall term just ended at Lambrook, a prestigious co-educational preparatory school in the Berkshire countryside, and they're expected to return in late October, just in time for Halloween.

But this wasn't the first time Prince William and Kate Middleton stepped back from their royal duties since they often went on breaks during school vacations, including a ski trip in Courchevel, France, last April, according to Hello! At the time, Prince George and Princess Charlotte were still enrolled at Thomas's Battersea in London, while Prince Louis was attending Willcocks Nursery School.

"The [former Duke and Duchess of Cambridge] are delighted to share new photographs of their family," a spokesperson said, according to the outlet. "The images show Their Royal Highnesses enjoying a short skiing holiday with their children in the French Alps."

The spokesperson continued, "This was their first holiday as a family of four and the first time either of the children had played in the snow. It was [a] very special and fun short holiday for the family, and they are grateful that John Stillwell [The PA photographer] was able to capture the moment so well. The [former Duke and Duchess] hope people enjoy the photos."

The royal family reportedly rented the 7th Duke of Westminster Hugh Grosvenor's private jet for the lavish vacation. They were seen enjoying meals at restaurants in the luxurious French resort.

Aside from family vacations, Prince William and Middleton have been trying to be more involved as parents to their young children for they would often drop them off at school or pick them up before heading to their new home at Adelaide Cottage, which is only 15 minutes away from the school.

Their life is one of a "modern royal family doing normal things," one unnamed source close to the royal family told People.

Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis started attending Lambrook School on Sept. 8, the same day their great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II passed away. The royal parents have been supporting their children while they grieved and have kept things "normal" as possible, according to the same outlet.

"He [Prince William] spoke about George, Charlotte, and Louis, saying that they were trying to keep some sense of continuity for them at school and keep things as normal as possible," Elaine Gee, 58, shared with the outlet while speaking about her chat with Prince William on the difficulty of explaining the late queen's death to primary school students at his walkabout alongside his wife Middleton, brother Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on Sept. 10 outside Windsor Castle.

At the longest-serving queen's state funeral and committal service on Sept. 19, only Prince George and Princess Charlotte were present because their youngest brother Prince Louis stayed home.
