Prince William gained himself a number of nicknames for different reasons.

The Duke of Cambridge was once called “the Basher” when he was still at the Kensington nursery school. Prince William was considered a terror in the school he attended and he reportedly angered his classmates by pushing his way to the front of refreshment queues, People reported.

Prince William also had a rough-and-tumble playground behavior earning him the said nickname among some parents. There were also stories circulating that he occasionally flexes his royal muscle while telling the other children about his royal family.

“My daddy can beat up your daddy…my daddy’s the Prince of Wales,” Prince William once said.

Prince William reportedly whined when he didn’t get his way. The duke’s behavior when he was a kid raised eyebrows among those who argued that his outbursts could be blamed to his liberal upbringing. Prince Charles reportedly didn’t want him to endure rigid rules as the heir apparent.

Meanwhile, according to royal author Penny Junor, Princess Diana could also be blamed for Prince William’s behavior when the latter was still a kid. She loves providing hugs to Prince William and his antics made her giggle which undermined the discipline he was getting from his nanny Barbara.

Due to the absence of discipline, Prince William pushed his boundaries further and further. He became noisy, cheeky and unruly to the point that even Queen Elizabeth II had to tell him that his behavior was not acceptable.

Junor noted that teaching manners to the boys was a struggle. One time, Prince William barged into a meeting where the Prince of Wales was with musician Bob Geldof.

The second heir to the throne reportedly asked his father why he had to talk to Geldof when “he’s all dirty.” The musician responded by ordering the little prince to shut up while calling Prince William a “horrible boy.” However, he was undeterred, which mortified Prince Charles who told his son not to be rude.

Just recently, Prince William was accused of snubbing Meghan Markle during their Christmas Day walk. However, some netizens defended the Duke of Cambridge insisting that he didn’t snub his sister-in-law as they were not having a conversation. Many believe that Markle just looked at Prince William’s direction when he fixed his scarf.

On the said outing, Kate Middleton and Markle were very friendly. However, Prince William and Prince Harry were not as friendly toward each other. In fact, according to body language expert, the royal brothers looked “ill at ease.”
