Kate Middleton and Prince William had a “make or break” holiday in 2007.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge met at St. Andrews University in Scotland in 2001. They’ve been friends before their relationship turned romantic. It took eight years before Prince William proposed to Middleton and a lot happened in their relationship during those times.

According to Katie Nicholl in the documentary “When Kate Met William: A Tale Of Two Lives”, the couple had an escapade in August 2007. Earlier that year, Prince William and Middleton broke up but reconciled after a few months. Many thought that their split was for good, but then the pair decided to stay together.

“William whisked Kate away to Desroches in the Seychelles,” the royal expert revealed.

“That was their make or break holiday, that is where they decided to stay together,” Nicholls added.

Prince William and Middleton were believed to have made a “secret pact” that they would marry each other on the said trip. However, the duke had to finish his military training first.

ITN Royal Correspondent Romilly Weeks shared some details about Prince William and Middleton’s split. According to her, the duchess wanted greater commitment from Prince William and she took mattrs into her own hands.

“To her eternal credit, Kate didn’t run away and crawl away into a hole and hide, she came out fighting [and] she was pictured going to nightclubs,” Weeks explained.

Middleton also joined an all women’s charity team planning to row across the Channel. The royal correspondent even compared Middleton to an Amazonian as she steered the boat along the River Thames.

Prince William and Middleton addressed their split during their engagement interview. According to the royal prince, they parted ways because they were still too young at the time. They were still figuring out what they wanted in their lives.

On the other hand, the royal mom of three admitted that she wasn’t happy about it. However, it made her stronger. Middleton added that she found out new things about herself that she hadn’t realized prior the split. She also confessed that one can get quite consumed by a relationship when he or she is younger.
