Princess Diana tied the knot with Prince Charles in 1981 and thousands of photos of the royal couple were released after the ceremony. In the majority of the photos, the late royal is smiling from ear to ear. But there are also a few photos wherein she doesn’t look happy.

In an unearthed snap, Princess Diana is sitting on a chair beside Prince Charles, and they are surrounded by people. The mom of two’s head is bowed down, and she also has a scared look on her face.

Princess Diana’s hands are clasped together, and she looks very distant from the heir to the throne. This is quite surprising since they just tied the knot. Comparing Princess Diana and Prince Charles’ wedding photos with the wedding pictures of Prince William and Kate Middleton, the latter couple seemed loved-up throughout the entire celebration.

The Prince and Princess of Wales’ marriage were far from being a fairytale. In the book “Prince Charles: The Passions and Paradoxes of An Improbable Life,” royals author Sally Bedell Smith detailed an encounter between the former couple.

She said that on one occasion, Prince William and Prince Harry’s mom heard Prince Charles talking to Camilla Parker Bowles on the phone. The latter told her husband that no matter what happens, she would always love him.

Princess Diana confronted her then-husband about what she heard, and the two ended up in a massive fight. Shortly after, Princess Diana saw Camilla’s photo falling out of Prince Charles’ diary.

And while the royal couple’s marriage was falling apart, Prince Charles commented on Princess Diana’s weight and this set her off. On one occasion, the dad of two wrapped his arms around his wife and told her that she’s a bit chubby. The comment triggered Princess Diana’s eating disorder.

Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s marriage only lasted until 1996. But as early as 1992, the couple already went their separate ways.
