Princess Diana traveled to Australia more than once while she was still alive. And on Australia Day, her trips to the Land Down Under were visited through some of the most iconic photos she starred in.

In 1988, the Princess of Wales joined Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip, and Prince Charles for a royal tour of the country to mark the 200th year since the arrival of the first fleet of British ships at Sydney Cove. The mom of two was photographed in her green knee-length dress and matching hat at that time.

Princess Diana was photographed walking beside Prince Charles and waving to the 2.5 million people that waited for her and the royal family’s arrival. It has been revealed that it was Princess Diana that drew the largest crowd right out the Sydney Opera House.

The Princess of Wales also posed with the winning team of a surfing carnival in Terrigal Beach. In the snap, Prince William and Prince Harry’s mom is wearing a yellow and white printed long-sleeved dress with peter pan collar. She is standing in the middle of a group of six men wearing nothing but their swim trunks.

Princess Diana was once again photographed dancing at a reception in Australia with Prince Charles. In the snap, the late princess is wearing a pink and blue floral tube dress. Prince Charles, on the other hand, is wearing his signature suit and tie.

Also, in 1988, Princess Diana was smiling from ear to ear during her trip to Melbourne. She was photographed in her blue collared top and red pants at that time.

Australia Day took place on Saturday, Jan. 26. Princess Diana and the other members of the royal family have visited the country more than 50 times. Most recently, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made their way to Australia during their first overseas royal tour.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex spent time in Sydney and Melbourne during their trip. They also went to New Zealand, Fiji, and the Kingdom of Tonga in October.
