Princess Diana requested to give her iconic wedding dress to her son Prince Harry when he turns 30 years old.

The Prince and Princess of Wales’ royal wedding was like a fairytale. Princess Diana’s wedding gown, which was considered the “most closely guarded secret in fashion history,” was only unveiled on her wedding day. Many were impressed with the late royal’s bridal gown and she reportedly wanted to leave the iconic item to her youngest son, Express reported.

“That gown has earned its keep,“ David Emanuel, one of the designers of Princess Diana’s wedding gown, said.

“It has been around the globe many, many times. I think more people abroad have seen it than British people. What’s extraordinary is, after so many years, people are still talking about it.”

Princess Diana reportedly wanted the bulk of her estate to be placed in a trust and requested that her sons be given access to it when they turn 25. Princess Diana’s mother and sister were allowed to change a few details following her death and they changed the princes’ age to 30. The rest on her trust were distributed among her 17 godchildren while her butler Paul Burrell received $64,500.

Princess Diana admitted that she almost ruined her wedding gown on her wedding day. According to her makeup artist Barbara Daly, she was about to walk down the aisle when the royal decided to apply a final spritz of her favorite perfume, Quelques Fleurs. Unfortunately, she didn’t notice that the lid of the perfume was loose, so she tipped the entire bottle on her dress.

“I've just put my perfume on and I've spilled some on the front of my dress. They'll kill me!” Princess Diana told Daly.

Daly tried to clean the dress but it left a large stain. So, she suggested that Princess Diana tuck the damaged part of the gown. The bride was hesitant and asked her if the people would even notice it. Daly assured that “every bride in the country has done that” and it was exactly what Princess Diana did.

According to a previous report, Princess Diana made more blunders on her wedding day than Prince Charles. Aside from staining her gown, she made a mistake when she mentioned Prince Charles’ name.
