TV host Larry King believes he knows how Princess Diana would have reacted to Prince Harry’s relationship with Meghan Markle.

“Princess Diana would’ve loved this. Would’ve loved this, and she wanted the monarchy to become more every day and having an interracial marriage in the monarchy of London is a great step forward,” King says in a clip from Game Show Network’s new documentary “Cover Story: Meghan Markle – The Prince And The Game Show Model,” airing Sunday. Watch the video above.

The one hour documentary will highlight Meghan’s time on “Deal or No Deal” and well as her humanitarian work and her acting career. King gave an exclusive interview to GSN about Markle and Diana’s similarities. King is one of the few people who interviewed both women.

Prince Harry agrees with King. In he and Meghan’s first joint interview for the BBC, Harry revealed that he thinks Princess Diana would have been good friends with Meghan. “Oh they’d be thick as thieves, without question. I think she would be over the moon, jumping up and down, you know so excited for me, but then, as I said, would have probably been best friends – best friends with Meghan,” he said.

In the video from the special, seen above, King adds that it’s actually Meghan’s differences with Diana that make her a good fit as a new member of the royal family. He pointed out that her acting, modeling and humanitarian work prepared her for the media frenzy that comes with a royal wedding.

“All of that preparation lends her well to the monarchy,” King explains. “Used to public attention, used to being in television, used to awareness, used to being a public person. Most of these [people] have never been public persons. Princess Diana wasn’t a public person, and it threw her a lot. And Meghan isn’t getting thrown.”

Meghan might disagree with that, though. She admitted that though she’d walked red carpets and given interviews before, being in a relationship with a member of the royal family is new territory.

“I mean, I think also because there was a misconception that because I have worked in the entertainment industry that this would be something I would be familiar with,” she told the BBC in November. “But even though I’ve been on my show for, I guess, six years at that point and working before that, I’ve never been part of tabloid culture. I’ve never been in pop culture to that degree and and lived relatively quiet life even though I focused so much on my job. So that was a really stark difference out of the gate.”

Hopefully, she is getting used to the attention. It sounds like people will only become more focused on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle as their May 19 wedding gets closer.
