  • The large age gap between the couple has never been a hurdle

Priyanka Chopra Jonas wants "many" children with her husband Nick Jonas, but definitely not a "cricket team of kids."

The "Quantico" star created quite a buzz recently when she said she wanted to have as many kids as it would take to form a cricket team — which is 11.

In a recent interview, Chopra, who usually keeps her married life away from public attention, gave a rare insight into her family life and future plans. Speaking with The Times, she talked about expanding her family and whether the couple's large age-gap was an obstacle in their marriage.

"I do want children, as many as I can have. A cricket team? I'm not so sure," the 38-year-old former Miss World told the outlet.

Her statement caught enormous attention from fans and media. Later, however, she clarified that it was a dream she had "10 years ago."

"Yes, that was a statement I made many years ago. What I was trying to say was, 'Don't hold on to statements I made like, 10 years ago," she told ET on Tuesday. "I will take whatever I get when it comes to Nick and I."

Chopra and the 28-year-old "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle" actor married in December 2018 after dating for seven months. The couple had extravagant Hindu and Christian ceremonies that took place at Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur, India.

Except for a few occasional posts on social media, the couple has been reticent about their family and personal life.

During the Times interview, the actress opened up about overcoming cultural differences and the age gap with her husband. The actress said neither their culture nor age difference "was a hurdle" in their relationship. It was "more of an adventure than trying to figure out hurdles. None of it was really that hard," she said.

"Nick took to India like a fish to water. But just like a normal couple, you have to understand each other’s habits," she added.

She went on to talk about spending "a lot of time together" with Jonas during quarantine and what a supportive partner she found in him.

On New Year Day, the actress shared a photo of herself and Jonas with her 59 million followers on Instagram. The pair looked all loved-up in the photo, which she captioned: "Let's gooooo! Happy new year everyone! Can't wait for 2021 to hopefully make everything better."
