  • Customers who ordered a PS5 last March 18 can get up to $100 back if they call Walmart for refund
  • Some Walmart PS5 orders may be canceled due to the limited availability of the device
  • More PS5 units are expected to arrive in various stores in the U.S. this week

Customers who ordered a PlayStation 5 from Walmart back in March 18 can get up to $100 off of their purchase if their order failed to ship.

The previous wave of PS5 restocks on Walmart saw countless online orders from gamers who’ve been wanting their own next-gen console, but the store has apparently accepted more orders that it could handle, according to Tech Radar.

Walmart has begun sending emails to customers regarding a delay in the delivery of their PS5 orders due to a miscalculation on the store’s side. To compensate for this error, Walmart has started to offer refunds of up to $100 to disgruntled customers.

However, this offer is only available to those who come to claim it. Customers will have to directly contact Walmart through the phone and ask for the discount themselves.

The PlayStation 5 is still seeing incredibly high demand even after five months of its release, with the worldwide chip shortage and the prominence of scalpers being considered the biggest causes of the gaming console’s meager availability. The delay in Walmart’s delivery schedule may be due to the store selling more consoles than it actually has in stock, Gaming Intel reported.

Some Walmart customers may opt to have their PS5 orders canceled entirely because of the limited availability of the console in the stores.

While a PS5 normally costs between £360 and £450 ($500/$627, 420/525 euros) depending on the model, its median resale price on sites like eBay is £650-750, according to US researcher Michael Driscoll.

Regardless of the delays and possible cancellation of existing orders, Walmart is still expected to replenish its PS5 inventory soon. The store is expected to stock up on PS5 units on April 15, according to Tech Radar’s Matt Swider.

The Walmart PS5 restock is expected to drop on Thursday if the store continues to follow its usual mid-month restock pattern. This was true for the previous month, on March 18, which was also a Thursday. Potential buyers can expect a smaller stock of PS5 for sale as Walmart attempts to resolve the previously held-up orders from the last batch.

Other stores like Best Buy, Target and Antonline are also expected to have more PlayStation 5s on sale again by this week, but nothing has been guaranteed so far. Customers can expect Best Buy’s stock to replenish by April 16 and Target’s by April 14.
