Sophie, Countess of Sussex, celebrates another milestone in her life.

On Sunday, Sophie turned 54 years old. The royals sent their warm wishes for her on Twitter by sharing a gorgeous photo of the Countess of Sussex in matching black dress and hat.

“Happy Birthday to HRH The Countess of Wessex! #HappyBirthdayHRH,” the caption read.

Sophie is married to Queen Elizabeth II’s youngest son, Prince Edward. The couple has two kids: Lady Louise Windsor, 15, and James, Viscount Severn, 11.

As a member of the royal family, Sophie divides her time between supporting the Queen and the 70 charities and organizations that comprise her patronages. Among the things she does is visit schools, universities, military bases and charity headquarters. She also supports people with disabilities and advocates the prevention of blindness in developing countries, as well as agriculture and fashion.

According to royal expert Robert Jobson, Sophie is among Queen Elizabeth II’s favorite royals. In fact, when there are gatherings, she and her family stay a bit longer to bond with the monarch.

“She’s very much the Queen’s favourite, and you’ll notice that whenever there is a family holiday or gathering, Sophie and Edward often stay a while longer than the rest,” Jobson told the Telegraph in 2017.

In December, Her Majesty was spotted in a car as she made her way to church. She was accompanied by a female royal who sat beside her inside the vehicle. The royal was not Kate Middleton or Meghan Markle, but Sophie, Countess of Wessex.

During the sighting, Queen Elizabeth wore a festive red and gray tweed coat. She paired it with a matching feathered hat. On the other hand, Sophie wore a green dress and paired it with a brown hat and coat.

In related news, there were reports earlier that Prince Edward wanted to raise his and Sophie’s profiles due to the Duchess of Sussex. According to Richard Kay and Geoffrey Levy of Daily Mail, there were talks about the Earl of Wessex fearing that he and his wife were being eclipsed by Markle.

Prior to Markle joining the Firm, the Queen’s favorite companion was Sophie. The Countess of Wessex was close to her mother-in-law and father-in-law.

Sophie was seen going on a ride with Queen Elizabeth II at Windsor. She was also spotted enjoying a carriage drive with Prince Philip whom she calls “Papa.”
