Rapper Slim Dunkin was gunned down on Friday evening in a music studio, Atlanta police said.

Atlanta police told The Associated Press that the rapper whose real name is Mario Hamilton, was preparing to record a video.

Police Maj. Keith Meadows told The AP that Slim Dunkin was shot in the chest after an argument with another person. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police have yet to identify the shooter but Meadows told The AP that investigators are interviewing people who were present inside the studio.

Meadows said that approximately 20 people were inside the small office-type building when she shooting happened around 5:30 p.m. These people were all located in different places, according to The AP.

Police also told the news agency that they haven't recovered the gun used.

Right now we're just trying to....identify who may have seen what, really just trying to put the pieces of the puzzle together, Meadows told The AP. It seems everybody witnessed something very different. We're just trying to go back and make sense of everything.

Slim Dunkin did a number of songs with rapper Waka Flocka Flame. Those songs include Bang and Karma from Waka Flocka's 2010 debut Flockavelli.

WSBTV reported that Slim Dunkin is 24 and that the shooting happened along Memorial drive in southeast Atlanta.

I would say he's a star before he became a star. He started rapping a couple of ago and basically his career has just went to the top. Literally, in just a short amount of time, close friend Covergirl told WSBTV. He was dedicated to it and I just talked to him, I saw him today. But I actually just talked to him the other day, one of the things he told me was he probably was going to make it the top. So, I can't believe this happened today. I feel like one of our greatest got his life ended, definitely short, way before his time. And I just can't believe it.
