Meghan Markle is known for doing her own makeup, but there were some speculations that she was taking cues from Kate Middleton.

Markle and Middleton have been pitted against each other, even before the Duchess of Sussex married Prince Harry in May last year. And since reports surfaced that Markle gets ready for events without help from a makeup artist, some believe that the former "Suits" star may have been trying not to seem fussier than Middleton, who does her own makeup.

However, a source recently told Us Weekly that Markle's decision has no relation at all to her sister-in-law. “She just likes doing her own makeup. [It has] nothing to do with Kate,” the insider said of the pregnant duchess. “Meghan has her makeup done for some special occasions but likes to do it herself.”

Reports of Markle doing her own makeup first surfaced back in July 2018 following her tour of Ireland. At the time, Daniel Martin, the duchess' longtime pal and makeup artist, shared a photo of the actress and praised her makeup. “Can we say my love, Meghan Markle, looking chic in Dior today!” he wrote.

When asked by a fan about Markle's appearance, Martin revealed that the pregnant royal DIY-ed her own makeup look. “I didn’t but she’s so good herself, right!?” he replied.

“She did her make-up herself for this,” he told another follower.

While fans were definitely impressed by Markle's looks, the duchess, unfortunately, experienced a slight fashion mishap during the same Ireland tour.

Prince Harry's wife, who is expected to give birth this month, met the Irish prime minister while dressed in an emerald green Givenchy dress, but she apparently forgot to check her bag before stepping out. Her $645 Strathberry tote bag still had plastic protective coverings on the metal hardware, as shown in photos published by Daily Mail.

Meanwhile, Markle is now on maternity leave as she waits to give birth to her and Prince Harry's first child. While she's on a break from royal duties, the duchess is apparently taking the opportunity to get ready to welcome their baby.

She and Prince Harry were recently spotted out on a shopping trip in London. Last week, the royal couple was photographed leaving Ilapothecary, a wellness store in the city.
