Meghan Markle will soon give birth to her and husband Prince Harry's first child, but one recent report has claimed that the duchess is planning to adopt a child from an "impoverished" country.

The National Enquirer recently put out a story claiming that Markle wants to be like Angelina Jolie, Madonna and mother-in-law Princess Diana and hopes to become the "first royal to adopt." The consistently unreliable outlet asserted that the Duchess of Sussex is aiming to adopt a child from a "third world" country.

A so-called "source" claimed that this would be just one of Markle's "charity stunts." Prince Harry's wife is reportedly “desperate to be seen as some kind of modern version" of Princess Diana, who made the plight of poor and sick children the center of her charity work, the unnamed insider said.

Aside from Princess Diana, Markle is reportedly also keen to follow in the footsteps of Jolie and Madonna “by adopting [to] give disadvantaged kids a great life.” Both Jolie and Madonna have adopted children from Asia and Africa.

However, there is no proof backing up these claims. This isn't the first time the Enquirer has published similar speculations about Markle, and Gossip Cop has already reached out to Kensington Palace reps, who apparently only "laughed off" the adoption claims.

As a matter of protocol, the palace refused to give an official statement regarding the latest adoption rumors, but Gossip Cop said it did dismiss the second report as mere "speculation."

While there is no telling what the future holds, Markle already has a child on the way and is thus is very unlikely to be starting the process of adopting a child at the moment. The duchess is reportedly already slowing down on her royal duties and will soon start maternity leave.

The Commonwealth Day services at Westminster Abbey this week was Markle's last public royal engagement before officially starting maternity leave. However, a palace source said that the pregnant duchess isn't exactly resting at home and doing nothing before welcoming her first child in late April.

"Her public engagements have finished but she is not on maternity leave yet," the palace aide told Harper's Bazaar.

"Meghan will continue working privately behind the scenes, taking meetings," the source added. "She has also been using this period to catch up with those involved in her patronage-related endeavors."
