Just because “Reign” aired its series finale last month it doesn’t mean it’s the last time viewers will hear from star Adelaide Kane. The actress, who played the lead role of Mary Stuart in the CW series, will now play a new character on a popular ABC drama.

Kane has landed a recurring role on Season 7 of “Once Upon a Time,” according to Deadline. The actress will join Rose Reynolds from “Wasted” and Mekia Cox from “Chicago Med” who also snagged recurring roles on the series.

Meanwhile, “Burn Notice” star Gabrielle Anwar and “Devious Maids” actress Dania Ramirez have also landed series regular spots on the fantasy show.

Kane retweeted a few media outlets announcing the news and replied to “Once Upon a Time” creator Adam Horowitz who welcomed her to the program.

“Thrilled to welcome @AdelaideKane to the #OnceUponATime family!” he tweeted Thursday.

“Jazzed to be here, thanks for having meeeee!!!” she replied.

Although the details about the new characters are being kept quiet, Kane and the rest of the actors will be joining the series following the decision to cut main cast members Jennifer Morrison, Ginnifer Goodwin, Josh Dallas, Emilie de Ravin, Rebecca Mader and Jared Gilmore from the show.

“OUAT,” which first premiered in 2011, follows the story of residents from the fictional town of Storybrooke, Maine. The characters are from fairytales that have been transported to the “real world” where their happily ever afters have been taken away and they no longer have their memories due to a powerful curse.

However, the series will reportedly have a “reset” which will now follow the residents of the Enchanted Forest who will face their greatest challenge yet, according to TVLine.

The Evil Queen (Lana Parrilla), Rumplestiltskin (Robert Carlyle) and Captain Hook (Colin O’Donoghue) will team up with a grown up Henry (Andrew J. West) and his daughter Lucy (Alison Fernandez) “on an epic quest to once again bring hope to their world and ours. Along the way, fantasy characters new and old search for true love, find adventure and once again take sides in the struggle of good against evil, as classic tales are once more twisted and reimagined.”

Kane previously starred on “Reign” which chronicled the life of Mary, Queen of Scots. Before saying goodbye to the series, the actress reflected on her character’s life and the importance of having ladies in waiting during an interview with Just Jared Jr.

“Those ladies were Mary’s support network and I think it was cool and interesting how they were actually picked off one by one and left her,” she said.

“When she was in Scotland, she was very weak and at her most vulnerable and having them is a very physical symbol of protection being taken away one by one, as she enters a more dangerous and more uncertain time in her life,” the actress stated.

However, despite the loss of characters on the show, Kane revealed that she is actually close with the women who played her ladies in waiting. “In the four years that we shot the show, a whole bunch of us got married, some had children and bought houses and we all just grew up on that set in those years, she added.

A premiere date for “Once Upon A Time” Season 7 has yet to be set, but fans of Kane’s will still be able to see her on Friday nights. “OUAT” will air Fridays at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
