"Real Housewives of Orange County" star Braunwyn Windham-Burke announced that she is gay and her husband, Sean Burke, is supportive of her.

On Wednesday, Windham-Burke announced during her interview with GLAAD that she is gay. Her announcement came months after rumors that she and her husband are in an open-marriage.

"I like women. I’m gay," she was quoted by Page Six, as saying.

"It has taken me 42 years to say that but I am so proud of where I am right now. I’m so happy where I am. To be able to be comfortable in my own skin after so long is just so nice."

She also addressed the makeout session between her and Tamra Judge last season. Windham-Burke confessed that the kiss was not an accident.

"I had a scene with Tamra that everyone kind of talked about," she explained. "When we were getting ready for the reunion I was talking to a producer that I trust a lot, his name was James, and he said, ‘How do you feel about this? Was it a drunken mistake or is this a part of who you are?’ And I said, ‘This is who I am.'"

Windham-Burke added that when she attended the reunion last year, she was baby-stepping into the real her. She was testing the waters with her friends, the cast members and her family.

When it comes to her coming out, the reality star credited it to her newfound sobriety. She felt that getting sober also made her realize who she really is on the inside.

Windham-Burke announced earlier that she and her husband are no longer living together, but they wish to remain married. She also said that she has someone special that makes her happy. Apparently, she already has a new girlfriend and her husband knows about it because they spend time together at the Windham-Burke house.

"I like women. I’m gay … I love Sean. I love him dearly, he is my person, he is my family. But I’m not attracted to men and I never have been," the mom of seven said.

Burke is supportive of his wife's decision. In fact, in a post on social media, he said he was proud of her.

"I love you. I’m proud of you. And I support you. Always," he wrote in his Instagram Story.
