“Riverdale” star Lili Reinhart just opened up about her depression and shared how the hit CW series saved her life.

A year after “Riverdale” was ordered by The CW to series, Reinhart posted a series of tweets for Mental Health Awareness Month. The actress, who plays the role of Betty Cooper, said that she had been trying to find a steady acting job for seven years before she was cast in “Riverdale.” Reinhart also revealed that they are already gearing up to film Season 2 and said that she is extremely grateful for the chance to be part of the series.

The actress ended her Twitter spiel by encouraging those who suffer from depression and other mental issues to seek help and never give up. “You’re all you’ve got. And you deserve the world. Your mental health should be your priority. Don’t forget that. This is your life... And you’ve only got one. So don’t waste it by being sad,” she wrote.

In the well-received series, Reinhart’s Betty also appears to have mental health issues. The character tends to hurt herself whenever she’s extremely upset. Betty does so by pressing her nails deeply into her palms until they bleed.

Meanwhile, “Riverdale” Season 1 aired its final episode on Thursday night. In “Chapter Thirteen: The Sweet Hereafter,” Archie’s (KJ Apa) dad, Fred (Luke Perry), was shot in the chest. As of late, it is still unclear whether or not he will survive the shooting. Elsewhere, Jughead (Cole Sprouse) has agreed to become part of the Southside Serpents while his dad, FP (Skeet Ulrich), is still in prison.

Archie and Veronica (Camila Mendes) have also developed a close relationship. But after they made things official, Archie felt confused over his feelings for Betty. Earlier in Season 1, Betty confessed her feelings for Archie, but the lead character said he couldn’t reciprocate. Now that Betty is with Jughead, Archie feels that his position in his best friend’s life will be replaced for good, and he’s not happy about it.

But so many things can still happen in the lives of Betty and Archie next season. Executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa told TV Line that Betty and Jughead’s relationship will be put to the test now that the latter is with the Serpents. Unfortunately, the exec didn’t say whether or not this will open up possibilities for Betty and Archie to end up together.

In other news, the EP hinted on the possibility of Betty’s half-brother being introduced in the upcoming episodes. In the finale, Betty’s mom, Alice (Madchen Amick), told her that she had her son adopted a few months after he was born. Alice was still very young at the time, and FP knew about her pregnancy. Alice decided to keep this a secret from her daughters for fear that they will go in search for their brother. Now that Betty is aware that she has a half-brother out there in the world, she will definitely do everything she can to find him.

“Riverdale” Season 2 will premiere on The CW sometime in the fall.
