‘Riverdale’
What big secret is Alice (Madchen Amick) keeping from her family in “Riverdale” Season 1, episode 13? The CW

“Riverdale” Season 1, episode 13 will unveil more secrets our lead characters have been hiding.

In “Chapter Thirteen: The Sweet Hereafter,” an emotional Alice (Madchen Amick) says that there are some secrets in life that no one wants exposed. There are times when these secrets are buried deep within one’s self until they are forgotten. The teaser for episode 13 did not reveal what secret Alice is talking about, but there are rumors that it may have something to do with her daughters.

Polly (Tiera Skovbye) and Betty (Lili Reinhart) were recently revealed to be Blossoms, so it’s possible that Alice just adopted one of them. Betty also seems to have a very dark past, and she often hurts herself when she’s very angry. The Blossoms have the capacity to do the same, and Clifford (Barclay Hope) was also recently named as his son Jason’s (Trevor Stines) killer.

Elsewhere in the episode, FP (Skeet Ulrich) will remain in prison despite the fact that he wasn’t the one who killed Jason. Unfortunately, Jughead’s (Cole Sprouse) dad was an accessory to the crime because he and another Southside Serpent member placed Jason’s body inside a freezer in an attempt to cover up the murder. FP also confessed to killing Jason even though he didn’t because Clifford threatened to hurt Jughead if FP didn’t do as he was told.

While FP is in prison, Jughead will struggle in the outside world. Not only did his mom refuse to see him in episode 12, but FP is also nowhere in sight. In the teaser, Jughead can be seen standing with his back resting against the wall. His eyes well up with tears, and he looks lost. But when his girlfriend, Betty, started freaking out in school, Jughead steps up to protect her.

Meanwhile, Cheryl (Madelaine Pestch) will be taking matters into her own hands when she finds out the truth about their family’s business. Cheryl is still very pissed off at her dad for killing Jason, and she is ready to get her hands dirty. A shocking arc centered on Cheryl will also be part of the finale episode of “Riverdale” Season 1.

While speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa said, “Cheryl has a shocking story in the finale, probably even darker than Clifford killing Jason. She’s at her worst place emotionally that she’s ever been. And by the way, she’s already been in a fraught, frayed place. It gets even worse now.”

Additionally, Archie (KJ Apa) and Veronica (Camila Mendes) will grow closer in episode 13. A sneak peek for the episode shows the two characters performing together with Josie’s band. Archie and Veronica’s fling started at Jughead’s birthday party. Both of them were feeling vulnerable that night, so they decided to find comfort in each other and makeout. After the party, Archie wanted to see if there’s a possibility they could become a couple. But Veronica refused because she’s worried that a romantic relationship could ruin their friendship.

“Riverdale” Season 1, episode 13 will air on The CW on May 11 at 9 p.m. EST.
