Republican Sen. Marco Rubio and Democrat Rep. Val Demings met on Tuesday at Palm Beach State College's Lake Worth campus in Florida ahead of the 2022 midterm election.

The two candidates took to Twitter in the aftermath of the debate as tensions remain high with less than three weeks before the election.

Rubio, who is seeking his third term, cited an article from right-leaning website Breitbart that claims he crushed Demings in the debate.

Rubio leads Demings in most polls. He continues to portray her as an extremist.

Rubio posted on Twitter that Demings owns "extreme leftist views" and reiterated his stance that Demings is a "puppet" for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Demings has been active on Twitter in attacking Rubio. As of 9:45 p.m. ET on Thursday, she has posted 20 tweets since the debate.

While Demings has used her position on abortion rights as a top campaign platform, she has also attacked Rubio on gun control.

Another tweet from Demings challenged Rubio to another debate. The debate Tuesday was the only one of the campaign cycle.

Demings has also pushed her credentials as a former police chief in Orlando.

Her pinned tweet is a not-so-subtle jab at Republican Georgia senate candidate Herschel Walker, who had presented a prop police badge in a recent debate. The tweet has received over 233,000 likes.
