KEY POINTS

  • Cole Anthony lived in New York during his younger years
  • New York Knicks drafting Anthony will make RJ Barrett slide to the wing spot
  • His dad Greg was drafted by the Knicks in the 1991 NBA draft as 12th overall pick

It’s no secret that LaMelo Ball going to the New York Knicks is what the fans wanted, and even LaVar Ball sees his youngest son wearing the orange and blue but still, it depends on how the lottery will end up.

Bleacher Report just recently published that the Knicks will not be getting the top pick as they are projected to go to the fifth spot and the chances of LaMelo still on the board n that order is very slim and the best one that New York can bring to Manhattan is to get the best talent available.

Cole Anthony, just like the youngest of the Ball brothers, is in the debate of being the top overall pick in this upcoming draft and bringing a talent like him to New York is not a bad idea. The University of North Carolina star is a very steady court general that can score.

Anthony won’t get lost in New York as he grew up in Manhattan and basketball is in his blood. His father Greg Anthony was drafted by New York as their 12th pick in the 1991 NBA Draft and this could be a chance that he can also be selected by the team that brought him to the pros.

The younger Anthony led the Tar Heels with his 28 points, seven assists, and four rebounds off the bench to give his team the 93-83 win over Wake Forest. The 6-foot-3 freshman is averaging 20.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 4.1 assists in 19 games with UNC.

Meanwhile, rookie RJ Barrett is spending his time as the team’s shooting guard and with Elfrid Payton and Frank Ntilikina sharing the ballhandling duties, adding the 19-year old Anthony will make Barrett shift to the small forward position and give the combination a try.

The former Duke standout is having a great rookie season with the Knicks, averaging 14.1 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists for the Knicks, who are currently at 19-42. The Canadian also buried the winning shot in their victory against the Houston Rockets.
