KEY POINTS

  • Russell Westbrook's salary this season is $38.5 million
  • He allegedly spends about $350,000 per year on clothes alone
  • Westbrook's own clothing line is called Honor the Gift

Russell Westbrook’s net worth is fitting for someone who has won an MVP. Can he lead his new team to the finals and possibly win an NBA title?

Fans call Wesbrook many names. MVP, Mr. Triple-Double, clutch, Mr. Intensity, fashionista and stat-padder. They may not be wrong at all. He is only the other player aside from Oscar Robertson to average a triple double for an entire season since 1962.

It was almost unimaginable for someone eclipses that feat. RWB proved everyone wrong, accomplishing it thrice from 2016 to 2019. It is safe to say Westbrook likes to do unconventional things, and he is good at surprising people. Just like what he wears off court. He is now one of the NBA's style icons.

In an interview with GQ, Rockets teammate and close pal James Harden estimated the 2017 MVP splurges around $350,000 per year on clothes alone. With someone who ranks second among the highest paid players in the league in the current season with a $38.5 million salary, the cost of being seen dripping in style seems spare change.

The former OKC Thunder main man’s pre-game outfits get polarizing views from fans. Some say it is unique and others say it's too much. But the Los Angeles native does not care. He does what he does and he does not care what others think of him.

Many doubted the team-up this year of Harden and Westbrook in Houston Rockets. For haters, it would be one golden chance to throw the two under the bus if they fail to reach the ring. Both of them have won MVP and reached the finals once but failed to take home the title.

Whatever happens in the postseason, Westbrook is still getting paid. In short, haters may say what they want to say but the Rocket’s point guard will be sitting in his millions. For the year 2020 of his contract until 2023, he will receive at least $132 million, per Sportrac.

He will be 34 years old at the end of his contract and depending on his production rate and health status, Westbrook can still demand a big paycheck especially if he wins another MVP or help bring a title to Houston.

He could also have his own fashion empire by that time. He signed a 10-year deal with Jordan brand in 2017. Experts claim that was the biggest deal ever in the history of Jordan brand.

Aside from his shoe deal, Russell Westbrook also makes money from endorsement deals with PepsiCo, Samsung Electronics and True Religion Apparel. He made a deal with Barneys New York to launch his own apparel line in 2014 and released his own clothing line called Honor The Gift in 2017.
