  • There are some smart ways to avoid starvation in "Rust"

A major cause of early death in the hit multiplayer-only survival game "Rust" is starvation. Players should learn how to get food and not starve early on in the game if they want to live longer.

Here are some tips and tricks on how to get food in "Rust."

How to get food and water

There are several ways through which players can get access to food and water in "Rust." They can get them by foraging, cooking edible meat, farming fruits and vegetables or can purchase them from vendors. Players can also boil and brew water or visit the Water Well monument.

Foraging

As players travel along roads, particularly near the Gas Station and Supermarket monuments, they will find lots of processed food in boxes and crates. The items include small water bottles, apples, cans of beans, chocolate bars, cans of tuna and many more. Foraging is the quickest way to find food and avoid starvation in "Rust."

The greasy areas of the rivers could also yield food items to players. There are stalks of corn and wild pumpkins that grow in the area occasionally. Players could sometimes find mushrooms and cacti in the game's desert area.

Hunting

Another way to obtain food and avoid starvation is by hunting. Players should use the most appropriate tool to get better yields. The best tool to use is the hunting knife, which offers the highest benefits. Meat is the best source of caloric content, which helps players survive longer when they can no longer find food.

Farming fruits and vegetables

The farming update in the game allows players to grow their own food. They can build a small or large planter to grow corn, berries, potatoes and pumpkins, among others. They can use the seeds after eating berries and other crops. With the plant UI, players can easily determine if the plants need more water or light, making farming an easy task.

"Rust" is currently available on PC. The game is likely to release on Xbox One and PS4 soon.
