The new and improved Sarah Palin has a new hairstyle and is sporting some major weight loss, but that’s not all that’s under her much smaller belt. The former controversial VP candidate is penning a fitness book.

According to People magazine, the former Alaska governor and 2008 vice presidential candidate is working with her family on a fitness book.

"Our family is writing a book on fitness and self-discipline focusing on where we get our energy and balance as we still eat our beloved homemade comfort foods!" Palin, 48, told People Tuesday.

"We promise you what we do works and allows a fulfilling quality of life and sustenance anyone can enjoy," she said about “our unique and motivating book.”

Palin’s family is best known for treating guests to a plethora of seemingly unhealthy foods like “moose chili,” “moose cheese dogs” and a variety of pies from chocolate cream to pecan.

People magazine did not disclose whether or not she already had a contract for the book or when – or even if -- the book will be published.

News of Palin’s book comes days after photos of Palin, looking very thin and sporting a new hair ‘do, surfaced. Palin is seen in the photos snapped on Oct. 7 looking extra thin in skinny jeans, a black off the shoulder t-shirt and platform wedges. Walking in Los Angeles, Palin also debuted a longer hairstyle complete with highlights. In addition to the weight loss and the new hair, Palin clearly has a new makeup regimen, as she was seen rocking a pale, frosted pink lip.
