"Schitt's Creek" star Emily Hampshire got candid about her sexuality in a new interview with Demi Lovato.

During her appearance on the "4D With Demi Lovato" podcast Wednesday, Hampshire revealed that one particular "Schitt's Creek" moment helped her realize that she is pansexual.

The scene featured co-star Dan Levy's character, David Rose, explaining to her character, Stevie Budd, about his sexuality using a metaphor involving wine.

"He says, ultimately he likes the wine, not the label, and that he's pansexual. I had never heard the word pansexual before," the 40-year-old Canadian actress said. "I've always considered myself super knowledgeable about LGBTQ+ stuff just because everybody in my life, my friends, are all mostly LGBTQ+ people, but I didn’t know this."

She continued, "Cut to about five years later. I was dating someone and I saw on these message boards people being like, 'Is Stevie a lesbian?' 'Is Emily gay?' 'Who's Emily?' ... I said to Dan, I was like, 'This is so weird. What am I?' Because I truly just fell in love with a person and where they were on the gender spectrum did not matter to me. And since then it really doesn’t matter to me. I have to like the person. I'm really attracted to a person's vibe. And so he was like, 'You're pansexual. Don't you watch our show?"

During their conversation, Hampshire also credited Lovato with pushing her into "thinking a little broader" when it comes to talking about identity. She admitted to previously believing that it was not necessary to "identify yourself as anything," but she said she "[gets] why we have to now."

"Schitt's Creek" — which followed the story of a wealthy, big-city family who loses all their money and has to go live in a small town they’d once bought as a joke because of its funny name — wrapped up its sixth and final season in April 2020.

Aside from Hampshire and Levy, the award-winning series also starred Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara and Annie Murphy.

Meanwhile, in the same interview, Hampshire also spoke about how she first met Lovato. The actress recalled the 29-year-old pop star sliding into her Instagram DMs to tell her they found her attractive and ask her out on a date.

Hampshire said that Lovato also made the comparison to Holland Taylor, 78, and Sarah Paulson, 46, when it came to their age difference.

"You also said, 'Think of Sarah Paulson and Holland Taylor.' And then right after you were like, 'I don't mean you're the Holland Taylor!' I thought it was the funniest thing in the whole world because I was a Holland Taylor in that situation. Proud to be," Hampshire shared.

Although they didn't end up going on a date, they did find a great friend in each other.

"You're a dope friend, and I'm happy we became friends," Lovato said, to which the actress replied, "Me too. I wish you weren't 29!"
