  • Selena Gomez got a small cross tattoo on her collarbone Sunday
  • Tattoo artist Bang Bang said though it looks easy, he was sweating when he did the ink
  • Gomez is "tough and never makes a peep" during sessions, the tattoo artist said

Selena Gomez has a new tattoo, and the celebrity tattoo artist behind it shared some details about her ink.

Bang Bang, owner of Bang Bang Tattoo in New York, told Entertainment Tonight that the 28-year-old artist visited his parlor last Sunday to get her new ink — a small cross on her collarbone. The "Rare" singer was accompanied by her friends for the visit.

"She loved it. No pressure though, right?” Bang Bang told ET. "It’s right on her collarbone where everyone will see. It’s a couple straight lines and it looks easy. But I was sweating."

He also commended Gomez's pain tolerance during the session and said she had been calm the whole time.

"A collarbone is a little more sensitive than some other areas on the body,” he adds. "But she’s tough and never makes a peep."

Before visiting his parlor, Bang Bang said Gomez texted him that she wanted to get another tattoo. The artist did about eight to 10 tattoos for Gomez over the years that are "hidden throughout her body" and include her "rare" neck tattoo, and an Arabic phrase on her back, to name a few.

"She told me she was filming in NY and was here for a couple more weeks," he said of Gomez. "She thought she maybe wanted something big. I get this a lot. I showed her a couple [cross] designs that were larger and photoshopped them onto her body. We did a bunch of renderings imposed on different body parts."

Gomez, who is currently filming her Hulu series "Only Murders in The Building," ultimately settled for a smaller design. The tattoo artist said the majority of the tattoos he has given her are spiritually related.

Before Gomez got the cross ink on her collarbone, Bang Bang also inked her with praying hands on her leg. The "Baila Conmigo" star showed off the said ink in November 2019.

"Tattoos are a really deeply emotional thing," he continued. "When someone gets a tattoo that’s in any way religious, I don’t even need to ask. I know that this tattoo is giving them power, and I like to be part of that."

In 2018, Gomez also got matching tattoos of the number "4" with her friends when they celebrated her best friend Courtney Barry's 26th birthday. They bonded over pizza and ice cream and visited a tattoo parlor.

Gomez shared on Instagram photos of them showing off their ink as well as their visit to the parlor. She also explained the meaning behind their tattoo in the caption.

"Best friend turned 26. Part 2. #4 because these women have stayed by my side for 7 years," she wrote. "(@ashley_cook 12 years) 4, because you are my 4 for the rest of my life. I love you ladies. You all inspire me to be better, stronger, closer to god and we have lived the most INSANE story together already. Can’t wait for 50 more!! Ps @raquellestevens had an actual panic attack it’s a dot!"
