Selena Gomez and her makeup brand Rare Beauty have decided to set up Rare Impact Fund that aims to help the underserved communities gain access to mental health services.

In a press release obtained by the Hollywood Reporter, the company stated it is planning to raise $100 million over a period of ten years. The money will be spent on increasing access to mental health resources by doing partnerships with various big organizations and foundations.

Scott Friedman, CEO of Rare Beauty, said that they are planning to create one of the largest “philanthropic efforts” that will be solely focused on mental health.

“Our goal is ambitious. We want to raise $100 million for mental health in the next 10 years. With the launch of the Rare Impact Fund, we will create one of the largest philanthropic efforts focused on mental health in the world. The funds will go toward increasing access to mental health services, particularly for underserved communities,” Friedman said in the release.

Gomez also shared her excitement for the project and expressed gratitude toward everyone who helped her in making the fund a “reality.” In the press release, Gomez stated that she and her brand always wanted to support people who do not have access to mental health services. She also shared that mental health has always had a “profound” impact on her life.

“I am so grateful to be surrounded by a team that’s helped make the Rare Impact Fund a reality. Since the brand’s inception, we wanted to find a way to give back to our community and further support who needed access to mental health services, which have had a profound impact on my life,” Gomez said in the press release.

The “Lose You To Love Me” hitmaker also explained that the fund is going to help many people and she is proud that her company has started such an amazing initiative.

“Rare Beauty is focused on helping people feel more connected to one another and less alone in the world. The Rare Impact Fund will make a direct impact on many lives and, ultimately, make a difference in the world. I’m proud of the work we’ve begun to do with our partners to offer these services to anyone who needs support,” THR quoted Gomez, as saying.

One percent of each Rare Beauty sale has been going to the fund since its inception, and this will continue to happen in the coming years.

The acclaimed singer founded Rare Beauty in February 2020.

Gomez has never shied away from sharing her struggles with depression and anxiety. Last year, the acclaimed musician said that facing depression was one of the scariest moments of her life since she was suffering both mentally and emotionally.
