Meghan Markle’s life has changed a lot over the last year, but it looks like she is still a supportive friend. Serena Williams revealed that she was so excited to see the Duchess of Sussex support the athlete’s new clothing line.

In October, Meghan wore the Boss Oversized Blazer from Serena, Williams’ independent clothing line. She donned the piece when she was in Dubbo, Australia as part of her royal tour with Prince Harry. That means she made sure to wear it when she knew there would be plenty of photographers around, giving her friend great publicity.

The tennis champion told Marie Claire that she sent the former actress some pieces from her line earlier this year, but she had no idea Meghan would wear a blazer she designed.

“I’ve known her for years and it’s cool to see your friend help you out without even trying. She just wanted to look good and wear a blazer,” Williams explained. “The next thing you know it’s our blazer. I was like ‘Meghan, thanks!’ And she was like, ‘Why are you thanking me? We’re friends!’”

Williams has been friends with Prince Harry’s wife for years, even attending their May wedding, and the Americans regularly give each other advice. The athlete revealed that she even makes clothes specifically for the Duchess.

“Since that blazer sold out, now we just have special pieces that are specifically made for Meghan and we send those to her. It’s been fun creating them,” she added.

The blazer may have just sold out in Meghan’s smaller size, though. At press time, the $145 piece was still available on the Serena website in a size large.
