  • Shailene Woodley hit the beach in California solo with a surfboard in tow
  • She showed off her fit physique in a checkered green bikini
  • The actress and her fiancé Aaron Rodgers are spending time apart as they focus on their respective careers

Shailene Woodley hit the beach in Malibu, California, with some of her pals this week.

The "Divergent" actress — who is engaged to NFL star Aaron Rodgers — was photographed flaunting her fit physique in a green checkered bikini at the beach Wednesday.

In the photos obtained by Page Six, Woodley, 29, was seen carrying a colorful surfboard and a towel. She pulled her hair back into a messy bun and completed her look with black sunglasses and a gold necklace.

She met up with some friends and laid down her towel and belongings on the sand before heading into the water for a dip. She looked happy and relaxed as she talked to the other surfers who came out of the water.

The outlet noted that while Woodley was seen carrying a surfboard, no photos were captured of her actually surfing.

Woodley didn't wear her engagement ring, according to the outlet, which suggested that the "Fault in Our Stars" actress likely left it at home to avoid losing it in the ocean.

Woodley's fiancé didn't join her on her beach outing. The actress and Rodgers, who announced their engagement earlier this year, are spending time apart as he gears up for another NFL season with the Green Bay Packers.

But while they haven't been able to spend a lot of time together recently due to their respective careers, Rodgers believes that the distance will be a good thing for both of them.

"It’s a busy work time for her, so [my decision] probably came at a good time for both of us to be able to focus on our work," he told Haute Living. "I think it’s going to be a good thing. I mean, her work was shut down for an entire year [during the coronavirus pandemic], and she’s booked a number of projects. She enjoys working and her own routine, which I obviously enjoy, too."

The couple is in no rush to plan their wedding or start a family, according to Woodley. However, some fans have speculated that they may be thinking of having kids after Woodley shared a black-and-white photo of a baby's feet on her Instagram Story.

"The question is why did Shailene randomly post a pic of baby feet without any context whatsoever," one fan wrote.

"Is she a mom? Is that a random baby? Who is that? Did Shailene Woodley have a baby and no one knew? I need some information here," another fan added.

Rodgers broke the news of their engagement in February while accepting the most valuable player award during the NFL Honors. While he didn't name Woodley at the time, rumors had already been swirling that he was engaged to the actress.

"It's an honor to win this award for the third time," Rodgers said in a clip shared by his team on Twitter. "2020 was definitely a crazy year filled with lots of change and growth, some amazing memorable moments. 180 straight days of having my nose hair scraped, playing for very little fans or no stands the entire season. I got engaged."

Woodley confirmed their engagement days later during an appearance on "The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon." However, for her, it wasn't news anymore because they'd been engaged "for a while" at the time.
