Shakira is keeping a positive mindset after experiencing heartbreak.

The "Whenever, Wherever" singer, 45, took to Instagram to share an optimistic message about love and healing on New Year's Day, months after her separation from her longtime partner Gerard Pique.

"Even if our wounds are still open in this new year, time has a surgeon's hands," she wrote in Spanish. "Even if someone's betrayed us, we must continue to trust others. When faced with contempt, continue to know your worth. Because there are more good people than indecent ones. More people with empathy than indifference."

She continued, "The ones who leave are fewer than the many who stay by our side. Our tears are not in vain, they water the soil our future will spring from and make us more human, so that even while suffering heartache we can continue to love."

She signed her message with "Shak" and added a heart with drop emoji.

A number of Shakira's followers and fans expressed their support for her and her message in the comments section of the post.

"You are one of the good ones, Shak," Merck Mercuriadis commented. Anna Kaiser added, "Beautiful, Shaki."

"We love you, Shak!" Javier Andrade wrote. "You are the best," Patricia Zavala wrote in Spanish.

"Shakira, you are one of a kind," Emilio Uribe opined in Spanish.

Shakira and Pique announced their split in June after 12 years together. They share two children, Milan, 9, and Sasha, 7.

The "Hips Don't Lie" singer addressed their breakup for the first time in her cover story interview for Elle's October issue.

"Oh, this is really hard to talk about personally, especially as this is the first time I've ever addressed this situation in an interview," she said. "I've remained quiet and just tried to process it all. Um, and yeah, it's hard to talk about it, especially because I'm still going through it, and because I'm in the public eye and because our separation is not like a regular separation. And so it's been tough not only for me, but also for my kids. Incredibly difficult."

During their relationship, the Colombian singer and the Spanish athlete lived in Barcelona, Spain, so he could pursue his professional soccer career at F.C. Barcelona—a move that Shakira considered a "sacrifice of love," considering that her career would have been better if she had moved to the United States.

"And so, one of the two had to make that effort and that sacrifice. And I did it. I put my career in second gear and I came to Spain, to support him so he could play football and win titles. And it was a sacrifice of love," she explained to the magazine. "Thanks to that, my kids were able to have a present mom, and I have this amazing bond with them that is unbreakable and that sustains us. You know, that is it. That's all I can say."

Pique was accused of cheating on the Grammy winner as he had been linked to 23-year-old student Clara Chia Marti. Photos of the two kissing at the Summerfest Cerdanya festival in Catalonia were released by the Spanish media outlet Socialite in August.

Shakira didn't address the infidelity rumors in the interview but said that she gave her best for Pique and their family.

"I think that those details are somehow too private to share, at least at this very moment—everything is so raw and new. I can only say that I put everything I had into this relationship and my family," the singer told Elle.
